Compass Glitch

I'm curious if this happens for anyone else. My compass NEVER works when I teleport to someone. I just have a blank compass with no dots or indication of where anything is. The only time it works is when I teleport to someone on a ship,but when I teleport to anyone on land I have to acrtually leave that area they are in and come back in order to be able to use my compass. It is incredibly annoying, does anyone else have this problem?

I never noticed if it was when teleporting, but it does happen to me pretty often. I try pressing C to toggle the compass, sometimes that helps.
